It’s never easy.
The challenge is for, and this was true for me when I was starting out, someone could be the best writer of their friends or their writer group or in their class, but you’re competing against the best of the best.
It’s one thing to be a great high school athlete.
It’s a lot harder to be a professional athlete.
The bar is really high and there’s a lot of competition.
Different people are going to take this differently.

I’m sure some people are going to have a lot to say and they’re not going to be happy about this, but I think for certain people this is actually really good news.
For whatever it’s worth, I’m going to say I’m just the messenger here.
When I talk to agents and managers and producers and executives, they’re worried.
They’re worried about this sort of new crop of emerging writers who want to be professional writers.
They’re saying this is the weakest kind of generation of people trying to become professional writers that we’ve seen.
