Film Courage: With your screenwriting Van, do you try to be original or try to give the audience what you think they would want?
Van Ditthavong, Filmmaker/Photographer: I try to come up with the original concept. You want to start out with that because that’s what drives you. I know they say Hey, think about the audience, what’s your genre, who’s watching this? I think you start writing the story that motivates you and what gets you through because you’re going to have to live with this for a long time in terms of producing it…(Watch the video interview on Youtube here).

Writer/Director/Photographer Van Ditthavong is the founding partner and executive producer of goPOP FILMS – a creative content studio and production company. He has taught at the New York Film Academy (Los Angeles) and UCLA Extension – where he received the 2015 Outstanding Instructor of the Year honor for the Visual Arts Department. His latest project is his feature directing debut, ALL ROADS TO PEARLA (starring Alex MacNicoll, Addison Timlin, Nick Chinlund, and Dash Mihok) and produced by Red Entertainment and goPOP FILMS.
