Film Courage: Jeremy, you say making it in Hollywood is 25% talent and 75% who you know?
Jeremy Foley, Filmmaker/Actor/Screenwriter: Hmm, I would say making it in Hollywood…I would say it’s probably more who you know than talent? I would put it close to like 85% who you know, 15[%] talent.
I think a lot of people have talent…and actually there is one thing that I would throw into the mix on that and I would say it’s perseverance. I would really say perseverance. Speaking for me and speaking for a lot of people I know, it’s really a long game. I can really be years. I know there’s a lot of people who come and say I’m going to try this for a year and see what happens and unfortunately I just don’t think that’s realistic…(Watch the video interview on Youtube here).
BIO:
Jeremy Foley is an actor and director, known for The Faceless Man (2018), Fated (2015) and Dante’s Peak (1997). He is also the co-producer of Hell, California, a hardboiled crime fiction podcast anthology series (produced and developed by Christian Elder). It takes place in a mysterious, mythical California border town called Hell. Each episode is an original standalone noir story, often about greed, lust and murder. In March 2020, Elder, Foley and a team of six writers formed an online TV writers’ room during the pandemic, resulting in this series.
