Film Courage: You feel that older [camera] lenses lend to a better story? Forgive me, I don’t know too much about lenses.
Shaun Paul Piccinino, Filmmaker: It’s more character. So the lens itself (the older lenses) tend to have more character which can be described as the edges blur a little bit differently or certainly lens flares are very different especially with anamorphic. There are some wonderful new anamorphic lenses and I’ve actually filmed with them as well and they are just beautiful. I just happen to love the characteristics. The way it bends light slightly different or again the way it pulls focus to the center…(Watch the video interview on Youtube here).
