Film Courage: Script or budget? What should someone think of first when producing a film?


Jeff Deverett, Film Producer, Entrepreneur, Writer, Director: Love your questions. The business side of me says budget, but you can’t ever deny script. Script is…here is what I say to filmmakers, you’ve got to be cognizant  of how much you spend because there is only so much you can make back. But if you want to make money with a movie, don’t make a bad movie. There is no point in doing something that is not going to entertain an audience. If it’s a piece of crap…if you’re doing it because you want to practice, fine. But if you’re doing it because you really want to give yourself a shot, don’t do a bad movie because a bad movie can’t sell, so you can’t compromise on script for the sake of budget…(Watch the video interview on Youtube here).
