What Makes A Great Movie Director? by David F. Sandberg

Film Courage: How do you get comfortable telling people what to do, especially if you feel like they have more experience than you?

David F. Sandberg (a.k.a PonySmasher on Youtube): It can be a bit intimidating and there was some friction actually on the set of LIGHTS OUT where the camera department…there were some arguments about things…like especially the first day was a bit of a setback because since it was my first movie I was like “Oooh, I better not screw this up because this is my one chance in Hollywood.” 

I had planned so much and made little storyboards, diagrams with shot lists and everything. Then the first day the DP didn’t really listen to me and some people in the camera department had made like really big movies, we’re talking about…(Watch the video interview on Youtube here).
