Film Courage:  For someone who has never cast A-list talent before (and this question can be for either of you), how would you suggest that they go about it? And I realize it’s not just a matter of simply pointing a finger at exactly who you want [to cast].  But in terms of getting things through proper channels?  If either of you are inclined to answer?

Rhys Thomas:  Having an A-list person involved in your project some how helps, I think.  Obviously I’ve been lucky because starting at SNL we are surrounded by it. And then you know we started DOCUMENTARY NOW with Bill Hader, Fred Armisen and Seth Meyers. And so that helped and obviously opened doors. And then this project [COMRADE DETECTIVE], these guys [Brian Gatewood and Alessandro Tanaka] took it to Channing [Tatum] and he was brought on as a producer, which again it legitimizes you.  It tells other A-list people that it’s okay to open that attachment and have a look.  But you guys might know more as writers [looks to Brian]?

Brian Gatewood:  It’s usually a process, generally.  Unless you are personal friends with the actor, then you usually go through a series of…initially probably go to their company.  In the case of Channing, we brought it to Free Association [Channing’s production company] along with A24 and we pitched Peter Kiernan and Reid Carolin.  Essentially they picked it up…(Watch the video interview on Youtube here).
