The story of a man who returns to his first school to join with the present students and teachers in their everyday adventures of learning. Through the stories that unfold, children enter imaginary worlds and intimate relationships.

If this were a diary, it would contain entries between 5th June 2012 and 28th April 2013.

I return to my first school and join with the present students and teachers in their everyday adventures of learning.

Through the stories that unfold we enter imaginary worlds and intimate relationships.

The gentle pedagogy practiced in this small rural primary school is communicated in the film through patient observation and direct involvement within the classroom, drawing attention especially to the importance of individual, inter-personal relationships and creativity to nurture learning.

Small Things, Big Things is a celebration of a school that listens to childhood, and the possibility of education to become art.
