Film Courage: How long does it take to write a book that’s 100,000 words?
Lux Raven, Watty-winning Romance Author / Wattpad Creator: For me any particular book tends to take around a year. I’ve known some writers who, Bam!, they’re done in a couple months. I’ve never been that person. That’s magic to me.
Then I know other writers, they’ll take 3 years to write a book. I’ve found that for whatever reason I’ve written books that are more on the 80,000 [words] end. Then I’ve written books that are way higher on the 140,000 and it always seems to be about a year. I think it’s just how fast my brain works through a plot rather than the actual word count. For me it just tends to always be about a year. I don’t know why.
Film Courage: Where does your process begin?
Lux: Funny enough, I think it begins with a lot of chaotic notes on my phone. I’ll start with some sort of vague idea and it’s usually because I’ve seen something Oh, that’s really interesting if it’s in a movie or a book or old mythology. It could be kind of anything. I start on a concept and then I kind of see what’s being done.
