Film Courage: Why have you been able to create the roles and the projects you want in Atlanta but not so much in Hollywood?

Jason Park, Filmmaker: Price [Laughter]. In Hollywood, and I noticed it even when I flew in, it’s like there’s this go, go, go. There’s this hustle, hustle, hustle, struggle, struggle, struggle, survive, survive, survive, you feel that energy here. In Atlanta it’s a lot easier to get locations, it’s a lot easier to get collaborative people because a lot of times it’s just the effort, the aligned effort. I don’t even call work “work” anymore, it’s just aligned effort. When you have that aligned effort with multiple people you’re able to get something that’s a lot more magical, a lot of times you hear from people that say Hey, if you’re going to make an indie film make it in one location. I’m completely against that and the only reason why I’m against that is because you still have to make the film interesting to the viewer. If you only have one location. There’s only so much you can do, not to say that there haven’t been successful films in one location, but when you’re an indie filmmaker you’re trying to maximize production value and how can you maximize production value on a string budget? In Georgia you’re able to get these locations that you would never, unless you knew the owner of this place or something or he was an uncle, you would never be able to get. BIO:

Jason Park is an accomplished Director, Producer, Writer, Actor, and Cinematographer. Living in Atlanta, GA with a background in both acting and narrative filmmaking. Jason was raised on the Big Island of Hawai’i. After finishing high school, he moved to Los Angeles California, where he found his passion for videography, acting, and filmmaking. He began booking commercials and print work for companies like Apple, Samsung, McDonald’s, Subway, and the list goes on. He’s been in films with actors such as Brittany Snow (Pitch Perfect), Ross Butler (Shazam) Christian Serratos (Selena), David Oyelowo (Gringo), and Evan Ross (The Hunger Games). After appearing in films, commercials, and print campaigns. The actor decided to passionately work on  breaking barriers for Asian-American actors, directors, writers, and creators in American Cinema. Leading him to create films with Asian leads in non Asian stereotypical roles.
