Film Courage: The struggle to wrangle a story. What does that mean to you?

Tony DuShane, Writer/Podcaster/Teacher: The wrangling…I think of the term I’ve used a lot which is taming the beast because it’s such an almost ethereal thing to take an idea and then to make it a narrative.

Then if it comes out as a book or a film to have so many people involved and they’re trying to bring this small idea that you had one day that was like “I’ll try that.”

Then after a lot of work it’s a thing.

It’s just so strange to have a thing and remember the day and the moment that that idea came to the head.

Then what it became which is so different usually than what the original idea was but yet close.

Film Courage: So, is it almost like let’s say a snake wrangler that’s holding these venomous snakes and putting it over here very carefully or no, it’s it’s just more it’s this kernel of something?

It’s not easy to get sometimes, it’s not even easy to get the theme.

Some people get their theme right away and I’m like “I don’t know how you got your theme right away?…(Watch the video interview on YouTube here).
