Film Courage: How many film festivals did you submit Death Cipher to?
Wade Patterson, Filmmaker: I probably submitted to about 40.
Film Courage: And you paid submission fees?
Wade: I did pay submission fees. Yeah, it was about I mean I think it was about a thousand bucks when I was all said and done.
It was a lot of money that wasn’t part of the budget, it just kind of, that was on top of, some of that.

Film Courage: Were these all local festivals? Were you hoping to travel to them?
Wade: I submitted to I tried to submit to like every level.
I submitted to some big festivals like Sundance and SXSW, but then I submitted to some more attainable if I went top tier.
I went second tier.
I even submitted to whatever I could find that even some with free fees.
I tried to get out there and find different levels just to see what was feasible for the film.
Film Courage: So you’re kind of combing through Film Freeway or different places?
Wade: Exactly. Film freeway. Just looking through. I mean I spent so many different times getting on for hours looking through all the festivals and seeing what might fit timeline-wise…(Watch the video interview on YouTube here).
