Film Courage: How did Carolco acquire the rights to Terminator 2?
Peter M. Hoffman, Author/Film Financier/Former Carolco Pictures CEO: Ah, that was a deal.
What happened was that originally the picture was made by Hemdale.
The way Hemdale had done the deal was that the underlying rights were owned 50% by Jim Cameron and 50% by Hemdale.
Hemdale was run by this guy John Daly who was a character in our business.
One of the again foreign independent characters we dealt with.
I never represented John but of course I knew him.

Mario always referred to him as John Delay, not John Daly.
He was notorious about how hard it was to make a deal.
This was going to be a job of work.
There were two jobs of work.
