Film Courage: In your Hollywood Reporter article, I think it was April 2026, you talk about how the grim reaper of Hollywood would one day come and find you. What is that?
Nick Morton, Writer/Producer: Well, I think it’s so hard to stay in the game in Hollywood. To really sustain a career is difficult.
When I started out, I felt like it was fairly easy.
I was well educated.
I was fast on my feet.
I had a great memory.
I was a pretty good front person.
That job was kind of easy.

You’re taking calls, you’re booking appointments, you’re scheduling air travel, whatever it is, it’s logistics.
As you get deeper into Hollywood, it becomes much more challenging.
You’re trying to anticipate what the market wants.
You’re trying to find that.
How do you find that?
Is it in a podcast or is it in a newspaper article or is it in an agent that you sit down with, a producer that you meet, a writer who comes in and pitches you something?
That’s a lot of territory to cover.
It’s very difficult to cover it all.
I got lucky again and again and again in finding material that was able to keep me employed, where just when it would come to a point where I think my employers would be like, you know, Nick, he’s just not in the game anymore, I would deliver something that was good enough to prove that I was still…(Watch the video interview on YouTube here).
