Film Courage: Glenn, if we add up the years, the professional years and the non-professional years of your life, how many years would you say you’ve pursued writing and screenwriting as a career?
Glenn Gers, Author/Screenwriter/YouTuber: I had about 25 years working and I had about 18 before that struggling to get a job, to get work.
So I’m really bad at math but I think that’s 40 something.
Anyway, it’s been many decades.
Film Courage: And in the 40 years, you were still working every day, even if you weren’t making money, I think we talked about it in our last interview.
Glenn: It started from just that, I liked doing creative work.
The more just doing it every day, trying to work on the content of the work, working on the quality and the subject matter and just that stuff was the first task.
Then eventually there’s:
How do I get this out?
How do I understand the market?
All that. But it still comes from every day doing the thing, making something, writing something, trying to plot it out, trying to do whatever it is, doing some work every single day.
That’s been non-stop since I was in high school.
Film Courage: And you talked about in our last interview, which I believe was in 2021 or 2020-ish around that time, that you were a temp and that it actually fit in quite well.
Glenn: It didn’t feel like it at the time, but it did. In fact, at the time, I kept thinking, I don’t want to do this. I want to be a…(Watch the video interview on YouTube here).
