Film Courage: When you get into the zone of writing what is that zone?
Adam Davis, Screenwriter/Filmmaker: It’s a focus. Time stands still. Anything is possible, which I think is a weird thing that I key in because when you say that I can see what it looks like, the edges of my vision sort of focus and I key in and things just come out, the characters are talking to me, they’re surprising me.
That is the best thing that comes out in writing. When you’ve done all the pre-work, you’ve done the outlines, you figured out who your characters are and you’re sitting there and writing it and then the character wants to do something and then you just kind of go with it and see where that takes it.

It’s improvisational as well. As much as I’m sitting there with my 20-25 page word doc outline using it for reference as I’m in Final Draft, when I’m going through characters will do this or that and it’s just inspiration that’s hitting you. It’s really great.

You’re not locked into a screenplay or a script yet. It’s pretty good. That’s the way that I would like to work and continue to work. We did that for maybe a month and a half, maybe two months and then the draft itself I think it was about a month, maybe a month and a half or so.
When it gets to the script stage what I love to do is just…(Watch the video interview on YouTube here).
