Film Courage: Jason, why can’t you make short films?
Jason Park, Filmmaker: I’m just not motivated by it. I think for me everything is 80 years old, look back at your life, how do you feel? Go big or go home. Do as much as you can with either as little or as much resource as you have.
With Speed Faster, which is the biggest film I’ve ever done to date, like we have stuff from Japan, Italy, Jamaica, a lot of stuff is going into this one project, semi-trucks all this stuff it’s because I looked at Four Amigos and said I can do that better. I know where I went wrong. Back to the problem solving, right. I was like I know what I could do to make it better, not necessarily as big as something like Fast and Furious, but I know how to make that better.
So then I’m like Okay, let me do Speed Faster. It’s one of those things where with short films I don’t see it as a challenge. I think I’m driven by the self-challenge and the self-goal that I create. I think that’s the driving factor of why I’m on movie number six when I haven’t seen the results or the wins to push me to go to number six. I feel like if you pursue anything in life, little wins refill your gas tank and they’re like Okay, I can go another step, okay I can go another step. BIO:
Jason Park is an accomplished Director, Producer, Writer, Actor, and Cinematographer. Living in Atlanta, GA with a background in both acting and narrative filmmaking.
Jason was raised on the Big Island of Hawai’i. After finishing high school, he moved to Los Angeles California, where he found his passion for videography, acting, and filmmaking.
He began booking commercials and print work for companies like Apple, Samsung, McDonald’s, Subway, and the list goes on. He’s been in films with actors such as Brittany Snow (Pitch Perfect), Ross Butler (Shazam) Christian Serratos (Selena), David Oyelowo (Gringo), and Evan Ross (The Hunger Games). After appearing in films, commercials, and print campaigns.
The actor decided to passionately work on breaking barriers for Asian-American actors, directors, writers, and creators in American Cinema. Leading him to create films with Asian leads in non Asian stereotypical roles.
