Film Courage: Did Walt Before Mickey [film] find you or you found it?

Khoa Le, Entrepreneur and Filmmaker: Walt Before Mickey found me but you could argue because I positioned myself to be found. I would say I positioned myself to be found but Walt Before Mickey found me.

Film Courage: What are you doing to cause projects to find you?

Khoa: Oh, that’s a good one. What I’m always doing every single day, what I work toward, is building value. The more value it brings to the world in solving problems and in my case solving entertainment issues from distribution to funding and fundraising stuff. That’s how I have projects find me. People find you, projects don’t find you, people find you that have projects. Then you’ve got to put it out there so once you have the project, you have to go into the networking world and tell people what you’re doing. That’s how I do that. I don’t look for projects at all. This is what we call inbound marketing, inbound branding. It’s about making sure that you put yourself out in the world that people trust you. Once they trust you, they say:

What are you working on?
-I’m working on this
-That’s interesting, why are you doing that?
-I get to explain that.
Oh that’s cool. Guess what, I have a friend that..

That’s how these projects find you.

Film Courage: When you took on Walt Before Mickey, you said the project found you, what were the biggest lessons about being a filmmaker that that project taught you, not just the finished product, but the actual experience…(Watch the video interview on YouTube here).
