Film Courage: P.M., can you show us what you have there and what’s the story behind this?
P.M. Lipscomb: This right here is my favorite camera of all time.
It’s the Bolex 16mm camera. When I first was introduced to this camera was in San Francisco at the film school where I was helping students understand how to do some 16mm film editing.
Film Courage: That’s beautiful.
P.M.: It’s steel and leather from 1962. It takes 100 foot rolls of 16mm film. You’re actually loading this film. I’m really excited about this because it’s really a box of magic tricks. There’s a lot of film cameras out there but not a lot that have a capability of doing so you can rewind the film and double expose it, quadruple expose it. You can do single frames. You can actually lock it down and have it do a continuous shot. It can do 12 frames, up to 64 frames a second. With this little twist here, going to 64…(Watch the video interview on Youtube here).
BIO:
P.M. Lipscomb has passionately made awarding-winning movies since April 23, 2006. He has made three feature films and thirty-six shorts presented at a dozen film festivals across the country. He strives to make work as a means of escape for the audience from the everyday hardships. After receiving the Emerging Filmmaker Award in 2015 for his decade of work in film, he was hired as a documentarian in Toronto, Canada to follow Jacob Barnett. P.M. Lipscomb has also taught film editing at the Academy of Art in San Francisco for a year and learned from experimental filmmakers such as Nathaniel Dorsky. P.M’s first feature film, CLOWNING was released through Gravitas Ventures and is available across many platforms. Originally from Cincinnati, Ohio, P.M. Lipscomb has now moved to West Hollywood, where he is preparing his next feature film. It is in the genre of horror, and is called Bickle.
