Film Courage: What is a junk job?

Viki King, Author and Film Consultant: The one that you…ahhh! The day job that you don’t want because you want the good job, the real job, the job job. That’s the junk job.

Film Courage: I often see people online Oh well, then you’re going to have to go back to that real job… but so much of doing anything creative there are also administrative tasks to it. There’s a lot of stuff that’s grunt work within that. It’s just like working doing data entry at a quote junk job, which I’ve had plenty of. There are a lot of components that are very similar. It’s not always where you get to just Oh! fluttering around. There’s a lot of stuff that you have to tie up loose ends. 

Viki: That’s what I was saying before, knowing how to be a human being and then reaching for your essence in the galaxy someplace, that combination. That’s what’s so delicious about being here on earth is that we’ve got that two-sey going on between the two aspects of ourselves. 

You can learn a lot from a junk job in terms of the politics and the dynamics of the group and all that. This is interesting. I didn’t have a junk job but I had research time. I was at a bank in Beverly Hills that I was doing research for a movie of the week in the bank. It was so fascinating to see that the head of the bank was so smart. He recognized and acknowledged everybody in the bank so that when it was the teller’s birthday, he’d get everybody down to sing while the customers were there and she was acknowledged in front of everybody, so powerful! It was really interesting to be there. I was there for maybe 10 days or so just to get the whole nature of the bank.
