Film Courage: How much of being a professional dancer is talent and how much is discipline?
Courtney Miller, Filmmaker/Producer/Author/Editor: It’s interesting when you say that because I have a daughter, she’s 23, she’s an amazing dancer. I’m the type of dancer that I have to get up, learn the steps and then perform them full out with all my energy right away. For me it works because muscle memory is how I retain the dance steps.
My daughter, she can literally sit back and watch all the dance steps, so she’s a quite a different beast and even though she’s very talented, she hasn’t worked as much as she should. The reason why is because in the dance world I believe you need three things to make it:
-You need talent.
-You need to have a certain look
-You need to know people (it’s who you know as well).
