Film Courage: Failure is the key to everything you want?
Charla Lauriston, Screenwriter, Comedian, and Owner of The Werking Writer: Oh yeah, I believe that. I think it is underrated, failure is so underrated. Especially to myself, I’m someone who was always very afraid of failure, who’s always afraid of looking bad, looking dumb, I always wanted to not ruffle any feathers, just be perfect and you don’t learn anything from that. All you learn is to be more rigid, all you learn is to seek more perfection and more whatever it is. I think you’re seeking more safety in not messing up and not making mistakes but all of the lessons are in failure, everything is there, all the information is in failure. Even in starting The Werking Writer I’ve had so many failures starting Werking Writer and so much to learn, whether having to realize that I’m going to have to put myself out there if I want to make this successful because people need to know about it and not doing that for the first year and then…(Watch the video interview on Youtube here).
