He believes if you want to be a Hollywood screenwriter you must know how to write genres. And in the Hollywood game where everyone is writing genre pictures the only way to win is to transcend the genre in a way the audience hasn't seen before. He says this is the only way a writer can break through the crowd and have their scripts stand out.
