Goodbye Promise

"A simple, richly emotional look at a failed actor's introspective last days in Hollywood." - LA TIMES

"A visually alert, enormously well-observed film that deftly captures Hollywood heartbreak." - LA TIMES

"...a testament to both the filmmaker's skill and to Collins' appealing, affecting performance that we so invest in the disillusioned Matt, the should-I-stay-or-should-I-go of his journey providing mounting pangs of tension and poignancy." - LA TIMES

"Heartfelt. Very poignant. There's about a dozen really poignant moments in the film, where it hits that true emotional core that should resonate." - 89.3 KPCC

"On a micro budget, Filmmaker David Branin and Actor Gregor Collins have created a perceptive and touching portrait of the lives of struggling actors working on the fringes of Hollywood." - FRED ROOS, Producer (The Godfather, Lost In Translation)

"Really terrific performances, a great, realized directorial vision and a story that is completely accurate both in its harsh quality and sense of continual possibility." - ELIZABETH YOFFE, Producer of MY BIG BREAK by
Director TONY ZIERRA

Upon moving to Los Angeles, Matt makes a pact with himself:  In seven years he'll be a working actor.  He makes a promise that if he isn't working by then, he'll pack up and return home.  This story begins seven days shy of the seven year deadline... and he is just as anonymous as the day he started.

This is his goodbye story.

Synopsis - Upon moving to Los Angeles, Matt makes a pact with himself:  In seven years he'll be a working actor.  He makes a promise that if he isn't working by then, he'll pack up and return home.  This story begins seven days shy of the seven year deadline... and he is just as anonymous as the day he started.  This is his goodbye story.

Director - David Branin
Writers - David Branin & Gregor Collins
Executive Producer - Richard Jacob
Producers - David Branin, Gregor Collins, and Karen Worden
Editor - Aric Lewis

Original Music - CJ Wallis

Starring - Gregor Collins, Sarah Prikryl, Todd Cattell, Brian Durkin, Karen Worden, Len Cordova, Frantz Durand, Christopher Guckenberger, Tyshawn Bryant, Johnny Giordano, Jud Bogard, Amy Hamilton, Jordan White, Kevin Deen, Dean Matthew Ronalds, Brian Ronalds, Raphael Sanchez, Shann Christen, & Benjamin Pratt

Production Notes: Then 26-year-old producer Richard Jacob served for the United States Armed Forces, risking his life on the front lines in Iraq during part of the production of this film.   Parts of Goodbye Promise were filmed blocks away from the 2009 Los Angeles County Station Fire, capturing some of this unsettling footage, as a twenty-person set prepared to evacuate between takes.

This film is 100% improv, with no script nor camera crew.  It was shot without a production budget, yet raised over $16,000 on Kickstarter in 53 days with 227 backers during a 2010 crowdfunding campaign to assist with post-production costs.
