Characters Are Harder To Write Than Plot – Victoria Fratz

Film Courage: Do you write out all of the key beats before starting your script?

Victoria Fratz, Actress/Producer/Writer: I’ve done both. Occasionally (more times than not) I’ve done an outline or fully fleshed-out outline. Then there are more rare times where I just run with it. The idea is just pouring out of me and I’ve got the idea. But it’s not the best to do. It has not worked the best for me. The outline is always…when you have a fleshed-out outline, you know exactly where you’re headed. If you spend a little more time on that outline and really let yourself know what is going on with each of these characters and where they are headed, my scripts will just fly to the finish line…(Watch the video interview on Youtube here).

SCIFI HORROR SEQUEL ‘MANDAO RETURNS‘ NOW STREAMING ON AMAZON PRIME

This is the third feature from Writer/Director Scott Dunn and Producer Gina Gomez Dunn. They successfully raised funds for the sequel via Kickstarter and managed to complete production only 2 days before all film productions shut down due to the pandemic. Because of the lockdowns, Scott Dunn had to tackle post-production by himself (editing, color correction, effects, and sound) and release the flick in time for the holidays.
