Lawrence Jordan, ACE and Owner of Master The Workflow: One of the big things is that a director talks over the performance and will be coaching the actor to do certain things during a performance and they will be stepping on each other’s lines. An extension of that is when actors are stepping over each other, stepping on each other’s lines, the director won’t sort of gently try to be aware of your overlaps, overlaps are a pain. They can be dealt with but quite often they just can’t and they will just have to be looped so that is a couple.
Film Courage: What about if it’s intentional where the [actors] are having an argument and interrupting each other, they are both angry [in the scene]?
Lawrence: Yeah, I mean that just sort of comes down to sort of finely finessing your dialogue edits and…(Watch the video interview on Youtube here).
