Film Courage: What was your feeling when you read the JOKER movie script for the first time?

Lawrence Sher, ASC, Cinematographer:  I was just very excited when I read it. It was incredibly powerful even on the page much like I think the final product. Scripts can go in many ways when you read them. I used to read scripts for a living. When I first moved to Los Angeles my first job was as a script reader. You would spend weeks and weeks reading dozens and hundreds of scripts.

Screenplays aren’t necessarily always a correlation to the movie that they will become. There are amazing screenplays that are really hard to translate on film and then there are screenplays that are kind of whatever that can translate quite vividly. The medium not necessarily correlates one-to-one.
