“My experience with Jen Ponton was fabulous! She was the ‘innocent’ of the bunch and she sure stepped up to the plate with this group! I loved working with her! She is a bright light!”
– Frances Fisher, actress
This year has been very busy for up and coming actress Jen Ponton. Currently, she stars alongside Frances Fisher, Steve Howey and Annaleigh Ashford in the indie film Love on the Run. Ponton plays the leading role of guileless ‘Franny,’ who’s suffering from a severe case of Stockholm syndrome as the hostage of hunky Rick (Howey), while her dysfunctional family (Fisher, Ashford) heads off in search of her. This dark road comedy premiered August 26th on DirectTV, Dish, iTunes, Amazon, Vudu, Google Play and Hoopla.
Next for Ponton is a guest-starring role in NBC’s award-winning show, “The Blacklist,” starring James Spader. She will play the role of ‘Maisy,’ who’s the key to ‘Red’ catching a guy he’s been chasing down since Season 3. While the show tends to have a darker tone, Ponton’s scenes are humorous and light, making them pivotal and unique to the show. Her episode is slated to air September 29th.
These two, very diverse characters played by Ponton showcase her ability to play a myriad of characters in multiple mediums and styles. Her resume includes guest starring roles on “30 Rock,” “The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt,” “Deadbeat,” “Orange is the New Black,” “Blue Bloods,” “Boardwalk Empire,” “Law & Order: SVU,” “The Slap,” and “The Good Wife.” A proud member of the ATAS, she is the co-creator and star of the comedy series “The Weirdos Next Door,” a hybrid of “The Muppets” and “Full House.”
As a full-figured actress, Ponton believes that what equals ‘normal’ or ‘acceptable’ to audiences are things we see every day. Her hope is for people of every size to be able to watch films and television and to see people like them falling in love, finding success, and being worthy of carrying a story.
