BOOKS: A DOCUMENTARY

 

This past August, Larry McMurtry, author of Lonesome Dave, The Last Picture Show and Brokeback Mountain, sold over 300,000 antiquarian books from his legendary Booked Up bookshop at auction over two days. This film is the story of those Books.  Filmmakers Mathew Provost and Sara Ossana of Studio Seven7 Films have launched a Kickstarter Campaign to help them complete a documentary about McMurtry, the auction, and the future of the American book trade.

Jason Horton, the World’s Only White Male Comedian, tells us he just recently surpassed 300 Million video views on YouTube, that he won YouTube’s "Next Comic" and that he may or may not be wearing clothes in the upcoming feature film "Smiley" which also stars YouTube notables Shane Dawson and Toby Turner.  He tells us about becoming so successful on YouTube that he was able to leave his desk job.  He ends by stating that he has always made time for social media because he believes it is important.

“I’m talking a lot of people of color who’ve never made a pledge on Kickstarter so I really think that it’s a fallacy, it’s a misconception and it’s just plain out wrong with a capital “W” that because someone puts $5 on my film, someone who backs my film with $5… that was $5 that a young filmmaker was going to get and that logic does not follow through.” says Spike Lee.
